Formerly thought to have been from c. 1955 as the only (unsigned, undated) known proof was given as a gift in 1955, but newly-found impressions of 1949.X and 1949.Y show LeWitts dating of trial proofs being dated 1949 and thus, this work, related in imagery and technique, is being considered from the same time period.
